As anticipated after the action in the Senate last week, H.R. 2213 was introduced in the House yesterday which calls for the WOTC (Work Opportunity Tax Credit) program to be made permanent.
Representatives Mike Thompson (D-CA), Tom Reed (R-NY), Bill Pascrell (D-NJ), Tom Rice (R-SC) and Tom Suozzi (D-NY) introduce the bipartisan bill to the Ways & Means committee.
We now have two bipartisan bills in Congress that both call for the permanent extension of WOTC. This is one of the best positions the program has been in going into the renewal process since it began in 1996. However, there is still a lot of work to be done to get one of these bills across the finish line and to make WOTC a permanent program in the IRS code.
The press release with additional information and quotes from the various Representatives can be viewed on the link below from Representative Thompson’s office.
We’ll keep you posted on any future developments and legislative progress.
